As Seen By … Yellow

I admit to being very partial to yellow. It is the most luminous color on the color wheel. I am happiest on a sunny day, everything just seems a little more optimistic and energetic.

When I work on enhancing a color photo I almost always look to yellows and golds to add to the look I am after. And then I like to add blues and other cool colors. My images often skew toward  yellow/blue and green/orange. And in my house you’ll find yellow, orange and green. My comfort colors.

I think A. A. Milne said it best:
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head
And whispered to her neighbor:
“Winter is dead.”

Van Gogh was a great appreciator of yellow as seen in some many of his paintings. He was known to say “How lovely yellow is. It stands for the sun.”  Indeed.
