Sweet, Sweet Lorikeets

After several years absence I recently renewed my membership to our local zoo. Nashville has a wonderful zoo that is on the forefront of breeding many rare and endangered species. We were having a spate of lovely morning weather, cool and dry and not to be taken for granted. So one morning this past week I set off early.

It was a treat to pet a kangaroo (they are very soft!) and see the new spider monkeys and rhinos. But stepping into the lorikeet enclosure provided a blast for the senses. What colors! These are friendly little birds, often landing on your arm, or in my case, my head. I had my macro lens on and set out to explore their world.

My macro brain couldn’t resist those glorious feathers!

These delightful little birds really brightened my morning!
