An Afternoon Walk in the Woods

The mid-morning phone conversation began with “Goodness it’s a beautiful day! Are you getting outside to enjoy the delightful weather?”

Having sat at the computer far too long that particular morning, I decided to make a quick afternoon visit to a near-by park.  The fall color was at its peak and rain was in the forecast that night.  I knew from experience that a hard rain would quickly impact the splendor of the leaf color.

A passerby stopped me while I was photographing and asked ‘If I was getting some good pictures.’

How many times do we photographers get asked that question?  The definition of ‘good pictures’ is so subjective.

My response was, “I am trying to use my camera to paint images.”

That blew her mind!  She looked at me with a bewildered expression or perhaps even a trace of disbelief.
