I collect feathers. I have a basket full of all kinds that I gather whenever I see unusual one. (My cats have recently discovered this treasure trove, but that’s a story for another day.) From backyard birds, water fowl to farmyard chickens. I have long peacock feathers in a large vase in the foyer and the other day, as I sat in the living room, the sun came through the window and lit them up in such a beautiful way I had to grab my camera.
That started my search for iridescence. I found some wonderful iridescent colors in my feather collection.
As a photographer I always try to look deeply at my subjects. I’ve used some of these feathers before in photographic series and other projects. It was a delight to find another reason to keep that basket around.
