I recently spent a week photographing in the lowland coastal regions in South Carolina. On this trip I had the opportunity to photograph several boneyard beaches.
Boneyard beaches occur when the ocean is allowed to take its natural course, eroding a barrier island shoreline until a forest is reduced to the skeletal remains of tree trunks hanging on in the surf.
The beauty of these beaches took my breath away.
